Director // Chartered Surveyor
Stephen joined the board of Byrom Clark Roberts in 2000. With his wife Pat they have two married children - and one granddaughter.
He graduated from Reading University in 1975 and worked in Kent for the first four years of his career, moving back to his home county of Cheshire in 1978. He worked firstly in Tarporley and then moved to Chester in 1986, where he has been based since.
A Chartered Building Surveyor and Chartered Building Engineer, Stephen has spent much of his working life involved in buildings of all types, but with a particular interest in ecclesiastical property. He is often asked to provide reports in Building and Boundary Disputes and is well versed in legal procedures as a practicing Expert; he gained a post-graduate diploma in Arbitration in 2002.
A long term interest in Historic Buildings, from the modest vernacular buildings to the grand houses within our heritage, has given him good understanding of the issues involved in maintaining and repairing older buildings with traditional rather than inappropriate modern methods, whilst embracing sympathetic modern methods where appropriate.
With a passion for community projects he has been involved, with his wife, in youth work for many years and is actively involved in the End Polio Now campaign and the Operation Christmas Child shoe box scheme.
