Projects: Church & Community
Provision of a new welcoming entrance extension, along with internal re-ordering to maximise the seating capacity of the worship space, and provide meeting rooms and other facilities.
The project has involved the demolition of the original Church Building and Council owned Community Centre, and the construction of a new Church and Community Centre building managed by the Church and available for use by the local community.
The design of the new church should be simple, distinctive and complimentary to the new developments both completed and under construction in the immediate vicinity and in the town centre. The palette of materials should be high quality for ease of maintenance with a preference for a traditional vernacular.
A ‘welcome’ entrance which was non-threatening to non-churchgoers, a space where people could sit and chat and have a coffee, a comfortable space for meetings and an occasional overspill from the main worship space.
Triangle Community Methodist church was built on the site of the former Delph Hill Methodist Church and unites Astley Bridge, Halliwell and Chorley Old Road Methodist Churches under one roof.
